Earlier this week, four brave souls from the tastytrade crew (Vonetta, Tim, Josh, and me, Dan) got to test our mettle by skydiving from a surreal 14,000 feet up in the air. Where did we accomplish this feat, you ask? The hospitable Chicagoland Skydiving Center located just 90 minutes outside of Chicago was the venue of choice. Upon walking in the front doors, the four of us were immediately greeted and asked to sign our lives away. (No, not really! Just had to fill out some standard release forms.)

After that, we had the privilege of watching an unexpected orientation video that included a bearded man from the 1980s speaking about the basics of skydiving and potential risks. From there, we entered the hangar where things got real in a hurry. Each of us were greeted by an instructor who provided a quick briefing and then it was time to suit up. Before we knew it, we were geared up with a jumpsuit, harness, altimeter, and goggles. From there, it was a quick walk to the waiting plane that would take these brave souls to their 14,000 feet destination. Over the next 12 minutes, we psyched ourselves up for the thrill of our lives.

What can I say about getting the opportunity to free fall for approximately 60 seconds while traveling around 120 miles per hour, and then getting to enjoy the scenery as we parachuted down back to reality?  The tastytrade crew experienced an adrenaline rush we will not soon forget and would do again in a heartbeat.

The tasty2go video is a glimpse into our experience...does it make you ask yourself, “Why would I not want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane?”
